The name Hot Rod came about in the late 1940s. But the name took on new meaning in the post war 1950s. In the 1950s, the Hot Rod became the essence of manhood for thousands of teenagers because they were cheap to build. Nothing turned a young girl's head faster than a candy apple red deuce coupe with a rumbling V-8 under it's hood. Has anything really changed since the 1950s except the name Street Rods.
